Talk:How to Win
From Combat Robot
I'm concerned about someone other than the author copying a forum post to the wiki. Are forum posts considered public domain?

He's been e-mailed. If there's a problem I'll let you know- I'm pretty sure Mr. Calkins id open-minded enough to let us use it.

I'd be more comfortable if you had emailed him and received permission before posting.

It's a public forum-I'd think it would be public domain. In fact, I think I'll quote you, "....more comfortable.. him.. permission" . Gonna sue me?

No, I'm a forgiving type of guy -- but Judge Dave might look the other way when you make your best hit in your next match. Give the guy his props and ask first next time. Common courtesy.
Public forum, public domain. Courtesy is optional. Even JudgeDave knows that. In any case, I don't compete at his events.

"Public forum, public domain. Courtesy is optional." <--- You misunderstand. This isn't a matter of courtesy. This is a matter of copyright. Legal matters. You CANNOT reprint anyone's complete work without their explicit permission here just because it is from a public forum! It doesn't matter if its already available for free elsewhere! That is not public domain! You MUST GET PERMISSION FIRST! Please do some reading on copyright before you make further misinformed statements. This article reverts to a link to Judge Dave's guide until his permission is received.
