Polyethylene comes in three formulations: low density (LDPE), high density (HDPE), and ultra-high molecular weight (UHMW). UHMW polyethylene is light (it floats!), nearly as slick as teflon, easy to machine, inexpensive, abrasion resistant, cut-resistant, and "unbreakable" by impact.

UHMW is popular for small combat robot chassis construction and armor.
